How this site handles your information.
This website belongs to Wm. Briggs & Company, Ltd., a tax practice in Lake Forest, Illinois. It exists so you can learn about the firm and ask for a conversation. It is not a portal, it does not hold client files and it never asks for sensitive financial information. This page explains the small amount of information the site does handle, and what the firm does with it.
What the contact form collects
When you send a request through the form, you give us your name, your phone number and, if you choose, your email address, the best time to call and a short note about what is prompting your inquiry. If the request is about a business, you may also give the business name and address. That is all the form asks for, and it asks for nothing else on purpose. Please do not include Social Security numbers, account numbers or other sensitive financial details.
How we use it
Your details are used for one thing: to respond to your request. Bill Briggs or his office will follow up by phone. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not send marketing and we do not sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own purposes.
Where it goes
A submitted request is delivered to the firm’s intake mailbox and recorded in a private log so that no request is lost. Both are controlled by the firm. The services that carry the request on its way, the website host, the email delivery service and the spam check described below, process it only to deliver it and do not use it for anything else.
The spam check
To protect this site from automated spam, the form uses a security check that confirms a real person is submitting it. The check runs quietly in the background and asks nothing of you in most cases. It does not identify you or follow you to other sites.
How long we keep it
Form submissions are kept for up to one year, long enough to respond, follow up and keep an orderly record, and then deleted. If you become a client, your information is handled under the firm’s client engagement, not under this website.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit, which pages they read and whether they use the call button. The data is anonymous to us: it tells the firm that a visitor came from Deerfield and read the Executive page, not who the visitor was. If you prefer not to be counted, a browser setting or extension that blocks analytics will do so without affecting the site.
Cookies
The site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics and the spam check may set their own small cookies to do their jobs. The site stores nothing else on your device.
Links to other sites
The site contains no links to outside websites. If that changes, this page will say so.
Questions about your information
If you would like to know what the firm holds about you from this website, correct it, have it deleted or ask that we not contact you, call the office at (847) 615‑1520. We will take care of it and confirm by phone.
Legal notes
General information, not advice
Everything on this site is general information about the firm and the kind of work it does. It is not tax, accounting or legal advice, and it does not take your circumstances into account. Nothing here should be acted on without a conversation.
No engagement through this site
Reading this site, calling the office or sending a request through the form does not make you a client of the firm. A client relationship begins only when the firm and you agree to it, in writing, after a conversation about your situation.
Accuracy
The firm keeps this site accurate and current to the best of its ability. Tax law changes often. If anything here is out of date, the conversation, not the page, is what you should rely on.
